TYPES OF JAVA APPLICATION
Java is an
Object-Oriented Programming Language. It was developed by James Gosling at Sun
Micro Systems in the year 1995. It has become the backbone of millions of
applications. It runs on around 3 billions of devices . Types of Application
that run on Java are Desktop GUI Application, Mobile Application, Embedded

Desktop GUI

uses standard GUI components such as Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT),
Swing and JavaFX and is deployed to desktop. These components contains
pre-constructed components such as button, list, menu, trees, scroll panels,
tables, tabbed panel, third party components, GUI widget toolkit, graphics and
media packages, 3D graphic features
Mobile Applications:
Java ME or
J2ME is a cross-platform framework to build applications that runs across
phones and smart phones. Java is the platform for App Development in Android.
Applications for Android are scripted using Android Software Development Kit (
SDK ).
Embedded Systems:
Embedded Java
Technologies are used in several devices such as Sim Cards, Televisions,
Utility Meters and Blue-Ray Disk Players. These devices ranges from tiny chips
to specialized large devices which are electro mechanical systems' components
performing dedicated tasks. Million og Television devices employ Java
Web Applications:
Java provides support
for web applications through Servlets, Struts or JSPs. It is used in
many applications such as health, social security, education and insurance.
Java is also used in developing eCommerce application using open-source
eCommerce platform – Broadleaf
Web Severs &
Application Servers:
Apache Tomcat, Jo!,
Simple, Project Jigsaw and Rimfaxe Web Server (RWS) dominate the web server
space. Commercial Application Server Space is dominated
by WebSphere, WebLogic, Jboss EAP
